Dawson can’t stop wiggling and giving our team kisses!

Despite everything he’s been through, this sweet, happy boy is healing wonderfully.

Dawson was brought to The Animal Foundation with a bullet wound in his chest. He was found bleeding profusely last week in a Las Vegas apartment complex. While we don’t have all the details of what happened to him, we do know Clark County Animal Protection Services is investigating.

We want to thank everyone who donated to Dawson. We are grateful for our community’s generosity and commitment to helping him heal.

Clark County Animal Protection Services arrived and noted it appeared the blood was coming from the top of the dog’s head, near his right ear.

He was rushed to The Animal Foundation, where we named him Dawson.

Our veterinary team found an open wound in his ear canal. An exam confirmed our worst fears — Dawson’s injury is from a bullet wound.

Dawson was shot with a handgun. The bullet was found embedded in his chest. We believe the gunshot wound is fresh and likely happened a few days before he was found.

Our team removed the 1cm bullet from Dawson and cleaned his wounds.

We don’t have all the details of this tragic incident, but Clark County Animal Protection Services is investigating.

Even though Dawson has a long road ahead of him, he is a sweet, wiggly boy who loves belly rubs.
